Empowering Members Through EDI
Earlier this year, we attended one of the Learn Before Wicket (LBW) sessions run by the PCA to help educate cricketers on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI).
Each county, region and academy will attend several different workshops covering a number of topics, all with the aim of enhancing their knowledge and understanding.

Men's Players Fear For Welfare Amid Schedule Concerns

During the PCA's pre-season meetings with the 18 men's counties, the need to change the county schedule was clearly highlighted by the players. 81% said the fixture list causes physical concerns, 76% were also worried about unsafe travel and two-thirds said the current schedule is not conducive to the highest level of performance. More than 30 players from 21 teams were in attendance as the PCA outlined its agenda for 2024 during the annual AGM. With several big negotiations set to take place, players were informed of how the PCA will be championing them across the next 12 months. After receiving racist abuse in April 2022, PCA Vice Chair Anuj Dal went on an 18-month journey to find the perpetrator and ensure they received fair punishment. Through the help of the PCA and B5 Consultancy, he found the Restorative Justice process that allowed him to achieve exactly that. Read more:

Following the passing of his wife, Gloucestershire player Tom Smith took it upon himself to bring in Critical Life Insurance for all PCA members to cover them should they ever need it. As a result, he was nominated for the PCA Outstanding Contribution Award, receiving his trophy at the PCA Awards.
